What is document scanning?

Document scanning is the procedure of using software and high-speed scanners to transfer an image on paper to a digital picture. The image can then be indexed and stored in a document storage system giving users the ability to navigate through many documents at great speed. 

What storage/media options do I have?

File 2 Disc stores electronic documents on CD's / DVD's or USB Flash Drives (upon request).

How long will my CD last?

The published shelf-life of CD's is up to 100 years, according to several sources.  Both Sony Electronics and Hewlett Packard publish their CD-R (Compact Disc Recordable) specifications as tested "up to 100 years" archival life. 

How Long does it take To Scan My Documents?

A single typical box can be Prepped, Scanned, Converted, Quality Assured in one day. However, the length of time needed for your job will depend on its size and scope. It can range from a couple of hours to several months.

When we review your scanning order, we can give you a better idea of the turn around time. Typically, while your documents are in our possession, we can scan any file or page on demand and email it to you.

Will you provide printed labels for my CD's and cases?

File 2 Disc provides custom-designed CD label with light scribe technology.

How secure will my documents be at your site?

Your scanning project will be handled by professionals with expertise in document imaging.  You can be assured of the careful and confidential handling of all your sensitive documents which are kept in our secure location.  We have never lost or misplaced a client's file.

Do you return my documents or destroy them after creating CD's?

Both options are available.  File 2 Disc will shred documents should you choose to destroy your documents once they are archived. This process happens within 30 days of data delivery allowing the client time to review all scanning work before the documents are destroyed. A certificate of destruction can be provided if desired.

What if I need a file or document during the scanning process? 

If you ever need a file or document during the scanning process just give us a call and we will search and find the desired document ,scan and email you directly free of charge.

Do I need any special software to view my files?

No! You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view your PDF image files, which is available to anyone for download free of charge at www.adobe.com

How many pages fit on a CD or DVD?

Depending on the DPI requirements a CD holds approximate +- 10,000 images, A DVD holds approximate +- 90,000 images, the larger the resolution the less the images can be stored.

How do I know how many file boxes your company has received?

We'll take an inventory of all  boxes, and then contact you with a  inventory log sheet  of all the boxes we have received, and we'll leave you with a copy and we have a copy. If we have to bring boxes back, for whatever reason, we will bring a new inventory sheet reflecting which boxes were returned and the log would be signed again. This way you know what documents we have and we will know in case you call for a particular file or document.

Can I add files that I might locate after the scanning process to my CD?

No. Once a CD or DVD is finalized, we can not add any other documents to it.
